MAONO AU-A04E Professional Podcaster USB Microphone

I ordered this mic for streaming purposes. I love it! It's got great quality, wonderful sound detection, noise cancellation software, a filter you can place over the mic, a protector against moisture, and an incredibly adjustable and flexible arm to customize it to whatever your needs. I have it set up on a desk and it was very simple to install, with installation instructions that clearly lay out the steps. It's very easy to adjust it to your needs whether close or far from you, so as to ensure it's not obscuring the screen and so on.It's a great product that really does enhance the audio experience of people who are hearing you through the mic. I got this microphone for basic recording and gaming purposes, the sound quality of this microphone is surprisingly good for its price. While it may not match higher-tier products, it's important to note that it's not designed to compete with them. One complaint I have is that in the pictures for the listing it shows software that would allow you to change things but I can not find it online and it is not talked about in the manual. The build quality feels sturdy and I have not had any problems with it staying secure. Overall I would recommend it to someone who wants an entry-level microphone for podcast streaming or gaming, without the need for software.

The tonal quality of sound from the mic element itself is actually pretty good, but there's something seriously wrong with the design where it appears that there is zero isolation between the mic element and the outside of the mic itself. It is SO bad, even if I touch the *cable* several feet from the mic, it picks up the noise. And I don't mean I'm slapping at the cable... even just barely touching it, a thump comes through in the sound.And what's even worse, the metal part that you squeeze to slip the mic into place and then let go of to hold it steady, vibrates so badly that it creates an actual, clean musical pitch at even the slightest contact with the mic *or* the cable. I know it's that particular metal piece because if I hold it firmly to keep it from vibrating, that resonating pitch goes away.I was planning to make a recording to illustrate these issues, but I decided there was no point in wasting my time -- these two factors are so bad I'm going to say you should just steer clear of this.I really hate giving such a bad review, especially since it's such a great price for the whole "kit" (the rest of which works fine, fwiw), but the mic is really just unusable because of the terrible handling noise.All of that said, I guess it's possible I might have just received a defective one, but if that's the case, then the criticism is with their quality control - and all I can do is review what I received.

What a great setup for a relative newbie to podcasting. Up and running in minutes.A solid build with a lot of flexibility, and a nice cradle for the microphone. The sound quality is great too, with the pop filter doing exactly what it is supposed to do--filtering out those annoying pop noises.Fun times ahead!
